Introducing Sister Spotlight
One of the hardest things about being in a sorority with over 300 fabulous women is not getting to know each and every one of them personally. To help you learn more about the women of Alpha Chi Omega our sister, Claire Johnson, will be interviewing a different sister every few weeks and showcasing her on the blog. Our first sister spotlight is on none other than our VP of recruitment, Jordan Maynard.
Name: Jordan Nicole Maynard
Hometown: Fort Worth, TX
Major: Business
What's the best/most exciting thing to happen to you in the past month?
“I made a pact with myself at the beginning of the semester to be more spontaneous and say yes to any fun opportunity that comes my way and get out of my comfort zone. I also changed my major after two years, so everything is so fresh. It has been the best semester yet. I also bought tickets to a festival in Colorado for NYE on a whim, and I don’t even live there!”
You're Alpha Chi Omega's newly elected Vice President of Recruitment. What is your favorite part of recruitment?
“To me, the coolest part is getting to show potential new members who Alpha Chi Omega really is. It is important to stand out among the other houses, and I think we do an amazing job of that by being so real with the PNM’s. So many girls said they could tell how genuine we are, and that we don’t ‘put on a face’, and that is what I love about Alpha Chi Omega. Also you meet every single person in the chapter and make more best friends. Everyone gets so close during those two weeks.”
If you could have any job in the world, what would that be?
“Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana. I wanna be a pop star so bad. I really liked the whole Miley/Hannah album era and I would just love to be the next Hannah Montana and have my own sold out tour that is also shown in theaters.”
If you could choose to have dinner with one person, living or dead, who would it be?
“Miley Cyrus, duh.”
What toppings do you get on your pizza?
“Pepperoni, sausage, black olives.”
What would you bring if you could only take three items with you on a deserted island with you?
“Chapstick for sure because you always gotta have soft lips, tanning lotion and Miley of course.”
Best advice you've ever received?
“Follow your heart. That is what will make you truly happy. It may not make sense in your head or seem like the logical thing to do at times, but your heart knows you better than your head ever will.”
What does "sisterhood" mean to you?
“For some crazy reason, when you become a part of this sorority there is a special bond that is created. There have been so many times that I have been out and about, and run into a sister and we instantly connect like we’ve known each other our whole life. I can’t explain it, but there is this unspoken agreement that we have each other’s back no matter what, even if we don’t talk on a regular basis. Everyone vibes here. It’s great.”
